Audience Member ..It's good enough to recommend as a (sometimes riveting) military war crimes trial - somewhat like "A few Good Men" except that Jack Nicholson played the part of a tough as nails Marine career officer whereas Don Johnson fought in a war where most US soldiers were NOT career soldiers , but were drafted to fight a bloody murderous war most of them would never have signed up for....Bad things happened in Viet- Nam for sure but this war crimes trial (with Don Johnson as the accused Lieutenant does some pretty impressive acting here , but at the end , his selfless attempt to save the members of his platoon from war crimes punishment rings a bit hollow for me ....His wanting to sacrifice himself for the sake of his platoon's misconduct in a stressful situation gives this courtroom drama a marshmallow ending (in my humble opinion)...Perhaps the novel that preceded the film is to blame....I never read the book...
