Stephen Cole Globe and Mail Continuously shocking and often painful to watch, the New Zealand horror film Wound should challenge its audience, many of whom believe the genre is best enjoyed as camp entertainment. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 2, 2011 Full Review Anton Bitel Little White Lies Playing out its hallucinatory scenarios of incest, perversion, loss and revenge in the arrested unconscious of its heroine, Wound is Repulsion for the surveillance age. Jun 2, 2011 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com A good majority of humanity will be, and perhaps should be, offended by the images that Blyth puts forth. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Sep 27, 2020 Full Review Liz Braun Jam! Movies It plays like a Film 101 collection of no-budget, blood-spurting special effects; other than shock value, the film has little to offer. Rated: 1/5 Sep 2, 2011 Full Review Simon Foster sbs.com.au A cinematic sledgehammer, David Blyth's brazenly sick, self-indulgent work of surrealism will prove insurmountable for all but the most open-minded horror-philes. Audience Member there were times when i could not believe what was happening on screen and ad to stop the movie for a bit to get my thoughts together...that said if you like dark and really disturbing horrors, you will love this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member "Tanya returns from the dead to confront and possess Susan with all her deepest fears and desires, sending Susan into a state of madness and gore-filled retribution." Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Some gory moments, but the story didnt grab me and there were somec stupid moments and not great direction and acting. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member The film they tried to ban! Who is 'they' exactly? Turns out it was just a bunch of noones (you know, Helen Lovejoy kinda loonies). Of course that is shamelessly the only reason I watched this film as it had it on the cover. It's a poorly made film with some quite hefty themes (incest, rape, murder, mental illness, take ya pick) but overall it leaves something to be desired. It seems like it could've been better constructed. Like a film that has only been about 70% realised. The budget was poor to none (fair enough, who the fuck would sponser this?) but it shows in the blood effects which are worse I've seen in a while (maybe intentional?) Competently acted though. You'll either love it or hate it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
