Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Xtro is an ugly, mean-spirited and despairing thriller that left me thoroughly depressed. Why was this movie made? What vision filled the filmmakers with a desire to share this work with an audience? Rated: 1/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Jorge Loser Espinof ... Turns a space visit into a nightmare about monstrous paternity, the abuse or traumatic reproduction, into a sum of totally insane and unpredictable dream paths where the only common thread seems to be flesh degradation. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 4/5 Mar 15, 2023 Full Review Alan Jones Starburst Xtro's potential was enormous but as it stands it is brilliant in one area only and that is its consistent mediocrity - and that's a shame. Jul 29, 2022 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins A visual mess of sci-fi/horror clichés. Rated: 3/10 Sep 8, 2020 Full Review Michelle Kisner The Movie Sleuth It's a trashy and disgusting Alien rip-off that will take you on a trip you will not soon forget. Mar 4, 2019 Full Review James Evans Starburst Xtro has... some great attempts at atmosphere and an emotional core to the story and if you get with the general sense of escalating weirdness you'll have a good time. Jonathan T This is an excellent film! Such a nice surprise! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/24 Full Review Entity P Xtro is gross and disturbing in an attempt to hide the fact the film contains no real horror. Bien jugado. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Creepy not only as a horror-movie but also as a movie lacking any elaborate scenario. Though the premises are quite interesting the result obviously requires more polishing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review justin t This was really tacky. The interview on the DVD is the best bit. The film itself warbled along jabbering about aliens and suchlike. It was a little mad and a little crazy and made little sense at all. This movie had everything from snakes to clowns to angry alien beings. It is worth peeking at for the insanity that ensues. If you are looking for something meaningful that is well acted with amazing special effects then you are in the wrong place. This is kinda like a cheap English version of Alien. Similar to Return of the Aliens: The Deadly Spawn (1983) in all aspects. Best enjoyed drunk or stoned as that is how they were when they made it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review jon h This is either a film you'll understand and like, or you're probably going to hate it. If you don't like something like Alien, this isn't going to be for you. But if you're the sort of person who loves a horror and is prepared to see through a films obvious flaws…. You may just find this entertaining and worth a watch if you've never seen it. The acting of some of the smaller characters is ropy at best, and of course some of the special effects are a little laughable. It rides that line between being a good film with some interesting ideas and being an awful one that shouldn't exist. I wouldn't recommend this film to a casual film watcher, this is more for the hardened fan. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
