Y2K earns points for ambition and sheer audacity, even if it struggles to keep the laughs coming while maintaining a messy tonal blend.

Kevin Maher Times (UK) It is, at best, ironically stupid, in the Ed Wood Jr vein. But ironically stupid remains, for the rest of the film’s agonisingly unfunny and unscary running time, stupid. Rated: 1/5 Mar 25, 2025 Full Review Iona Mathieson Little White Lies It’s not a bad movie, and it lives up to the standards that it sets itself, but it is as throwaway as a killer Tamagotchi. Rated: 3/5 Mar 24, 2025 Full Review Siddhant Adlakha Empire Magazine Light on laughs, and even lighter on drama, Kyle Mooney’s throwback high-school romcom/tech-horror shifts uneasily between its various modes and tones, but never finds its groove. Rated: 2/5 Mar 24, 2025 Full Review Brian Viner Daily Mail (UK) This is a comedy-slasher movie titled after the so-called millennium bug that, although it's easily forgotten, caused widespread anxiety as the 21st century loomed. Kyle Mooney's film, too, is easily forgotten. Rated: 2/5 Mar 24, 2025 Full Review Jack Martin Film Feeder A largely unfunny extended sketch that can’t even compete with less than half of a Simpsons episode. Rated: 2/5 Mar 23, 2025 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …sharing an ‘equal rights for robots’ theme as last week’s The Electric State, Y2K is a far better robots vs people movie...much like the night it’s named after, Y2K is a lot of lightweight fun, and lightweight fun is what most movies aren’t these days… Rated: 3/5 Mar 22, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews
