In a down-and-out Mexican village, Juanito (Ricardo Ancona), a young boy with hypersensitivity to sounds, escapes daily to a wooded island to practice his homemade violin. On the island Juanito befriends an elderly musician (Jesus Medina) with an exquisite violin called "Yanco," and becomes the old man's student. Tragedy strikes, however, when the man dies. Afterward, the haunting music Juanito plays on the old man's violin stirs the nerves of the superstitious villagers.

Audience Member I have spent years searching for this film after having seen it as a five-year-old on TV in 1965. It made an enormous impression on me, and having watched the YouTube version I can see why! It would probably be too much for children in this day and age, but perhaps older kids could appreciate it.
