Anton Bitel Little White Lies This confection may be lurid, treacly overkill for the eyes, but the the story's innate good-versus-evil wholesomeness, not to mention its grating cutesiness, is constantly offset by outrageously inappropriate Miike touches and subversive humour. May 25, 2012 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine At almost two hours, Yatterman does threaten very slightly to over-stay its welcome. As it is, the film is rather delightful. Audience Member Starts out as a pretty funny parody of tokusatsus, and then in the middle it goes unsurprisingly but excitingly bizarre and threatens to become subversive in its handling of the romantic relationships, exciting because it gave me ideas about where it was gonna go. (No. 1 + female villain, No. 2 + Indiana Jones's daughter. Think about it.) Unfortunately it ended up being a case of "where I thought this was going is way more interesting than what actually happened" in the utterly asinine third act, so that was a bit of a bummer. But the sequence in Ogypt is still pretty amazing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Sin ningún desperdicio esta conversión a Live-Action.. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm happy Takashi Miike doesn't make films with a western taste. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Very funny ! magic fukuda ! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member One look at the name Takashi Miike would lead some people to believe this would be a violent and gruesome film, but they couldn't be more wrong. It's a live-action update of a 70s anime and it's bonkers. Miike handles the material as an almost parody of Tokusatsu tv shows. The film gives no explanation as to what is going on, and that's a lot of the fun. You are placed in a world that assumes you understand what is going on. The effects, costumes, and acting are all completely over the top and colourful, but you also get a lot of brilliant (if sometimes immature) humour and fantastic robot battles. Seeing the dance sequences randomly enter into things, and a main villain whose dream is to live a simple life with a family, makes it refreshing. If you're not hooked within the first few minutes, then give up. Those who do enjoy it will certainly want more. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Yatta ! Yatta ! Yattaman ! Le meilleur épisode de Power Rangers du monde. Avec humour adulte et humour débile inside. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
