Kevin Maher Times (UK) The best Mel Brooks film with the finest Gene Wilder performance is this near-flawless horror spoof that’s shot in velvety monochrome and pays loving homage to the original Universal monster movies of the 1930s. Rated: 5/5 Oct 5, 2024 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian In some ways it can now be considered not as satire or spoof, but a continuation of the Frankenstein genre, a connoisseur development or theme-variation not so far removed from the Hammer or Warhol riffs. Rated: 5/5 Oct 3, 2024 Full Review Paul D. Zimmerman Newsweek This black-and-white parody of the Karloff classic is the most cinematically assured, coherent and (relatively speaking) tasteful of Brooks's films. Feb 10, 2022 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Mel Brooks’ best film -- indeed, it’s one of the greatest comedies ever made. Rated: 4/4 Jun 30, 2024 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder create something that has never been repeated in the legion of movie spoofs that followed: a real movie with dynamic characters, a story that stands on its own, and a touching undercurrent of pathos amidst the parody. Sep 22, 2023 Full Review Montezuma Bay Area Reporter Mr. Brooks has combined the zaniness of Blazing Saddles with the structure of Producers and has come up with a very funny movie. David H OK, but kind of long and drawn out. The humor is very dated. Some people I know watch this movie every Halloween. Once in a blue moon is enough for me. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/24 Full Review Davin H Frau Blucher! Absolute classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review John J My favorite comedy. Great cast and hardly a bad scene Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/21/24 Full Review Audience Member Mel Brooks’ finest film. A top 10 movie of all-time. A classic in every sense of the word. A brilliantly casted film, led by Gene Wilder, Terry Garr, and Marty Feldman. A botched science experiment brings Frankenstein to life. A film you can enjoy with the entire family. 13+ to understand everything. A perfect film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review Mike Simply put, the funniest movie ever made!
