Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: B+ Apr 21, 2012 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald If it...verges on being just slightly patronising at times, that's a quarrel with the filmmakers, not its participants. Rated: 4/5 Oct 24, 2008 Full Review David Stratton The Australian It's a pity that director Stephen Walker, who also narrates, imposes so much of himself on the material, asking at times the most insensitive questions. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 17, 2008 Full Review Joanne Laurier World Socialist Web Site Young@Heart's vocals are playful, but essential. Even the youngest of spectators are impressed by the liberating flamboyance of the chorus. dave s Despite some flaws, Young @ Heart is a documentary that will draw tears from even the most stoic of viewers. The film focuses on a choir of senior citizens from New England who perform, with vigor and unabashed enthusiasm, rock and pop classics along the lines of Sonic Youth's Schizophrenia and Talking Heads' Life During Wartime. Director Stephen Walker's narration feels unnecessary and intrusive at times, often bordering on insultingly patronizing, and the videos of the Young @ Heart singers is sometimes a little cringe-worthy, but there is more than enough other material to make the movie worth a watch. The performance of Dylan's Forever Young at a local prison is both heartbreaking and inspiring, as is the entire final performance in front of an adoring audience in a sold-out theatre. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member What an amazing film and an amazing story! Truly a moment in time it is captured absolutely perfectly in step with the music it presents. The cast of characters that make up the Young@Heart Chorus are everything you need them to be. They are real and funny and know how to put on a show. They set you up perfectly for the moment that you will never forget when the most heartbreaking rendition of Coldplay's "Fix You" will rip your heart out while filling you up in a way you didn't know you needed. Highly recommend taking a moment for this wonderful film! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Great story and so true to life.....
