Wiktor R Jedna z najlepszych ekranizacji polskiej klasyki Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/10/23 Full Review Audience Member A great and humorous Polish history epic. Andrzej Wajda's adaptation of a renowned Polish comedy stays strong with its witty and amusing dialogues, and stellar performances by the whole ensemble cast. There is even Roman Polanski in one of his quirkiest roles. Great tale about the battle of the sexes and a fine commentary on the gentlefolks' tradition and culture. While it may not be as pleasurable as it is for Poles, it is a recommended view for all the cinema fans. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review kevin w Two warring nobles, not doing too well financially and forced to share the same courtyard, find their progeny romantically involved. Sound Shakespearian? Well it is, this comedy of errors and turnarounds, and it has Roman Polanski (!!!) playing the clown/matchmaker (and doing rather well honestly, very Danny Kaye), this Bard-lite makes for a pleasant time passer. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't doubt that it's a good adaptation of the famous play - you just have to be 100% Polish to appreciate it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member a simple theatrical comedy with conservative shoots and poetical dialogs and monologues . the humor is sometimes tasteless! i guess that Polanski accepted playing in such film just as a compliment for his own people and for the great director Andrzei Wajda .
