David Robinson Financial Times Above all Lee Garmes' exquisite photography is a tribute to the craft of the Hollywood cameraman in the great days. Sep 2, 2020 Full Review Jorge Luis Borges Selección A pleasingly slow film with good emotional atmosphere that many times rises to the magical. A film that without great difficulty observes the classical unities of time, place, and action. Dec 15, 2021 Full Review Paul Rotha Cinema Quarterly This is one of the best films to come from Hollywood this year. Feb 3, 2021 Full Review Dilys Powell Sunday Times (UK) Frankly it looks bit thin. But one is desperately eager to surrender to it. Mar 13, 2020 Full Review Pare Lorentz Vanity Fair A patent, junglecycle picture, the animals give their usual performances, but [cinematographer Lee] Garmes gave the show a certain charm which was too much for the principals to manage alone. Audience Member A lost masterpiece from 1933 with a jawdropping climax. Before that, a strange and yet naturalisticl romance featuring a very beautiful Loretta Young and a truly heroic Gene Raymond who talks to the animals. The zoo animals are very much characters in the drama. See it if you can. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
