This was a brilliant adaptation of Towles’ novel! The casting was perfect, the cinematography and staging elegant, and the dread underlying the charming life of the Count was perfectly conveyed. Definitely worth watching! 5 stars

Ewan Mcgregor’s performance in this is flawless. The show does a great job in taking you back to a period in history well written about in books but not in a fictional sense. Adding humanity to a tough historical time. Highly recommend for anyone who is after a enjoyable experience set in a time of dark happenings.

No joke, best tv show my wife and I have ever watched. Beautifully crafted. A positive, uplifting, emotional rollercoaster. I think it may go over some people's heads, and challenge many people's way of seeing the world and life in general, but in a good way. The main character's attitude throughout is truly inspirational, and the message is one that is so needed today. The story is extremely well crafted, and the acting could not be better. By far the best thing on TV or in the theaters today. In an age where movies are made for those with low IQ and ADHD, this is truly some well needed fresh air. The buildup to the last episode is truly a masterpiece. IF Ewan does not get an Emmy for this, then the award is utterly meaningless! The actress who plays older Sophia, is stunningly beautiful. Like shockingly so.

In this election year with the U.S. being trashed from both the Left and the Right, this wonderful drama reminds us how fortunate we are. Not a dull moment in this ultimately heart-wrenching tale with a brilliant cast led by Ewan McGregor.

Such a great novel that is just ruined by strange choices in the adaptation. British accents, non-Russian (“diverse”) cast, plot and character changes, etc. Had to stop watching after a few episodes though I’d been looking forward to this show!
