Catherine T Overall, I found the series enjoyable, particularly Ewan McGregor's portrayal of the Count, which was a highlight. However, I was disappointed by several casting choices that felt misaligned with the characters. The addition of made-up storylines detracted from the original narrative, and important elements from the book were left out, weakening the adaptation. While the series had its strengths, it missed key aspects that would have enhanced the story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Rachel H Absolutely beautiful, inspiring, watching I havnt seen anything like it for pure storey telling in a long time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review R J I highly recommend, I did not read the book, so my insight is how the Limited Series is based off of real events during a depiction of a true historical time period. The series had great acting, interesting plot from start to finish, & writing that added comedy, drama, romance. My favorite aspect of The Gentleman in Moscow was the how the viewers are taken on an emotional rollercoaster in such a clever, realistic, and artistic way, done by writer Ben Vanstone. He adding a looking glass character to be the eyes of the viewer. Nina Kulikova, played by (Alexa Goodall/Leah Balmforth) is little girl who lives at the hotel with carless parents are constantly traveling leaving her to essentially be raised by the lead Osip. We get to see an innocent little girl who who loves Osip & hears all the reasons why Communism is harming their country eventually grow up get married have children & become a strong Communist supporter. Over these episodes as a viewer you will be agreeing and disagreeing with back & forth and I'm sure getting a glimpse of how gray the situation was after Stalins reign in Russia. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review David D A Russian novel is a Russian thing. There are fantastic mixed nation castings for series dealing with Russian issues. I'm thinking of The Death of Stalin and Chernobyl. While both are brilliant productions and are must watches, these are a take on Russian stories. They are not adaptations of a Russian novel. The series feels like Millwall London have crushed Chelsea London and are slowly taking revenge for years of soccer whateverball reasons that they have. Besides the backdrop of the revolution, this does not feel like Russia. And for that reason its a coherent mess. And yes, I'm aware that the author is American. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Shoshana S I absolutely loved this. The script, the acting, the story, it was all great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/30/24 Full Review Greg H Although not as good as the book, and when you get past the colourblind casting, this is a beautiful story with great acting and delightful scenery and score. If you can't get past the casting you will miss an opportunity to enjoy a fairly unique production of a great story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/22/24 Full Review Read all reviews
