I've really enjoyed this series of fictionalized history. Sufficient number of characters have plenty of charm, humanity and multidimensions mixed with characters showing limited but nasty aspects. Settings, costumes and photography/cinematography are well done for a plot that mostly takes place in an extremely bourgeois hotel during the Bolshevik revolution, so far. I look forward to watching this series.

Having read the novel on which this series is based, I was looking forward to this on screen version enormously, particularly because Ewan McGregor was the star. The novel is one of the best books I’ve read, the same doesn’t apply to the TV Series, to the extent I reluctantly watched the final episode. Only one characters aged over a 30 to 40 year period and the large number of African American or UK African actors made a mockery of who would have have lived in a hotel in post revolutionary Moscow

Really struggling with this charmless show. I'm distracted by the casting and accents that look and sound so disingenuous that I'm being pulled out of the magic of the storytelling, a missed opportunity as the book is warm, witty, and thoughtful. Which this series isn't.
