3.0 stars; Well, I'm glad I read the book. Coben tends to add side stories to his plots, sometimes just to create red herrings. In the case of film adaptations of his novels, these side stories just don't seem to work; they add confusion to the main plot and add extra, unproductive time to the story. Another problem in the foreign productions of his novels is the translation. When a language is translated into another, the resulting language suffers. This results in dialogue that is unrealistic, unlike the way people normally talk. I am a fan and have read and enjoyed most of Harlan Coben's novels. Unfortunately, the film adaptations of his novels are very inconsistent.

I don't know if Harlan Coben is getting worse or the Netflix adaptations are. The last two series that I have watched have been absolutely horrible.

Demasiado enroscada, inverosímil. Al final el personaje principal es totalmente detestable y no estoy muy segura de que esa fuera la intención.

Bad. Just bad. Other adaptation of Harlans books always had me in. This one was hard to watch.

Very disappointing. There were so many back stories and characters that didn't really have anything to do with the main story, creating confusion. I found my mind wandering throughout because of this. I kept watching, hoping it would get better but it never did. 6 hours of my life I can't get back. I do NOT recommend....

As a devoted Harlan Coben fan, this is definitely not one of the best. Possibly the worst. A premise that a beloved teen advocate, Leo, is actually a child predator feels disingenuous, as the protagonist, an aggressive journalist named Ema, jumps on the attack with little scant evidence, leading to Leo's downfall. Boring episodes ensue, centering on the murder of a young violinist Martina, and how, if at all, Leo was involved. Ema is not a likable character, although she is a good actress. Her fractured relationship with her son, goes nowhere. A subplot with a wealthy man and his family issues, goes nowhere. She jumps to conclusions about Leo, after they became involved, and wouldn't listen to his side of the story. A convoluted mess of things transpire, failing to meet Coben's usual standard of mastery. This one is a mess, and a boring one at that. Ending was predictable.
