Ethan Millman The Hollywood Reporter Unfortunately, Hitmakers is trapped in its format, stuck between disparate goals of championing the music and following storylines that make for good reality TV. Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Steven J. Horowitz Variety A well-intentioned and entertaining yet superficial look inside the hit factory. Jul 24, 2025 Full Review Melissa Camacho Common Sense Media This show doesn't completely hit a sour note, but it certainly creates a dull, depthless vibe. Aug 8, 2025 Full Review Ruchika Bhat Digital Mafia Talkies Truthfully, I could imagine Hitmakers being a regular show on VH1 or MTV, because it’s meant to be truly about the music. Rated: 2/5 Jul 28, 2025 Full Review Joel Keller Decider We’re on board with Hitmakers because of the music that’s being produced in these camps. The interpersonal stuff may drive the drama, but it’s much less interesting to us in this context. Jul 25, 2025 Full Review Daniel Hart Ready Steady Cut Hitmakers shines a light on songwriters and producers who create hits for A-listers, but it’s far too generic and surface-level, ironically aligning with the manufactured nature of the music industry. Breanna S It’s a great show I like how no one was eliminated and they each rotated to create their own material as a group! I do miss songland where it was just writers and they were interacting with artists etc. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/01/25 Full Review Lu G I am amazed I lasted more than 3 episodes. It's an entirely brain numbing experience of 'song writers' who are writing the over produced crap heard too often that Prince warned people against. (Inset head bopping) The only upside was the brief encounter when an egocentric idiot gets called out by other guys about his obvious narcissistic behaviour towards not just his girlfriend but most of the others at one time or another. (Insert head bopping) They certainly enjoy the sound of their own voices even though the majority can't even sing or hold a tune. Auto tune is definitely required. I guess Ableton Pro is their best friend, I won't bother with the rest of this series as it's seriously bad. (Insert head bopping) I have no doubt there are some decent people in this program yet it's all lost with very average editing skills. (Insert head bopping) If you are into watching people head bop on mass it's fab 😐 Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/24/25 Full Review Read all reviews
