Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Ben G I saw Season 1 & 2 and I like it, sad the stopped it... :/ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/23 Full Review Maddie f Really sad hulu cancelled this show! It was just starting to get its recognition. Season 2 the cast chemistry was amazing and the characters were really starting to mesh. Very sad it's cancelled I hope it comes back or another network picks it up because I miss this type of sitcom! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/23 Full Review Natthana P It's not that bad! Come on! So pity that series was cancelled! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/18/23 Full Review Excel A How I Met Your Father Is How I Met Your Father up to par with How I Met Your Mother? Hell no. Is it a good series? Yes. The characters in this are different from the original series, and they're very distinct. The first season may not be for everyone, especially hardcore fans of the original series, but I think this is something that happens to most spin-offs. Most spinoffs don't get it right immediately, and sometimes audiences aren't open to seeing it till they do. This series got better progressively, and as we got to know the characters more, it was easier to follow through with their hijinks and shenanigans. This series was cancelled too early, and that's a shame, especially as a lot of questions were left unanswered. The cast was fitting but Tom Ainsley as Charlie Winthrop was perfect (also my favourite character.) 6-6.5/10. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/05/23 Full Review Alan M HIMYF Season 2 was a significant improvement over season 1 - although it still had its flaws. After a clear trimming down of the number of recurring characters - and a clear effort to streamline the number of simultaneous plotlines HIMYF has a much stronger season than the first. Some of the problems that dogged the first season do rear their heads (cheap jokes and slapstick humour, among them) they are not nearly as pronounced as they were in the first. There were some puzzling choices however. They once again had Sophie run into one of HIMYM's characters but this scene, once again, felt rather forced - and, worst of all, isn't even a surprise because they completely spoil it at the start of the first episode! It was almost as if the writers were worried that there wasn't enough of a hook to keep viewers invested so they had to put it in as a teaser. However, despite its problems, season 2 of HIMYF was an enjoyable watch. I found myself laughing at many scenes like I did with HIMYM and there were some really fun ideas. Like a forgettable date's face being replaced by an emoji. It is a shame the show wont be renewed for a third season, but I can't say that I'm all that surprised. Natasha Alvar Cultured Vultures I won't belabour the point about it failing to live up to its predecessor, but it does have its own charms if you're in search for some fuss-free TV. Rated: 6/10 May 23, 2023 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba It is not nearly as good as some of the comedies on networks right now (Abbott, Grand Crew, and American Auto), but it’s big, broad passable comedy. Mar 30, 2023 Full Review Rodlyn-mae Banting The Muse/Jezebel The Hilary Duff-led spin-off doesn't stray far enough away from the path HIMYM paved for it. Jan 25, 2023 Full Review Liz Kocan Decider The show desperately needs a rewrite to sharpen the humor, because it’s so close to being good, it’s just missing some cleverness. Jan 25, 2023 Full Review Chase Hutchinson Collider As it drags along, there is little that is unique to How I Met Your Father — or, more importantly, anything that manages to get enough laughs to justify the investment. Rated: D+ Jan 18, 2023 Full Review Mae Abdulbaki Screen Rant Season 2’s narrative is scattered — so much so that older Sophie’s teasing of what’s to come doesn’t fill one with excitement so much as indifference.
