What to Know

Critics Consensus

Diverting enough to satisfy MCU fans, and wickedly cruel enough to entice horror aficionados, Marvel Zombies' sheer entertainment makes up for what it lacks in originality.

Bob Strauss San Francisco Chronicle The show’s creators perform narrative wonders in just four 30-minute installments as ragtag groups of still-living heroes come together in a desperate effort to reverse the damage. Rated: 3/4 Sep 24, 2025 Full Review Rendy Jones RogerEbert.com 'Marvel Zombies’ may be a light watch, but the lack of guts it had to take the MCU roster to new heights is squandered by tonal stale safeness disguised as freshness. Sep 24, 2025 Full Review Jarrod Jones AV Club Even with the zombie apocalypse there to spice up their lives, Marvel’s newest heroes are less lively than the arm-munchers surrounding them. Rated: C- Sep 24, 2025 Full Review David Hogan hoganreviews.co.uk Marvel Zombies was a really fun two hours in front of the telly, ticking a lot of classic zombie apocalypse clichés but also throwing in some bizarre and crazy scenarios around a superhero-based Earth having the issue instead of a regular one. Rated: 4/5 Oct 13, 2025 Full Review Polly Conway Common Sense Media This miniseries is action-packed and gory fun for those superhero fans who like a little extra yuck. Rated: 4/5 Oct 6, 2025 Full Review John Stark Mac the Movie Guy Marvel Animation offers yet another twist on the heroes we know, but this one is delightfully brutal and bloody, setting itself apart from nearly everything else on the roster. Noah S. This was actually not as bad as I thought it would be, but not GREAT.

Some interesting concepts were brought it up and I don’t know how they tie the loose ends in the next season (if there will be one).

What really upsets me is the lack of legacy Avengers being survivors of the zombie apocalypse. I would have liked to see how they would have dealt with it especially since I am more invested in the original Avengers than a lot of the heroes introduced post-Endgame.

Also, the fact that we have Blade Knight looking like Mahershala Ali rather than a love-action Mahershala Ali Blade proper in his own movie or A movie (voice cameos don’t count) that was promised since 2019 baffles me. Anyways, Happy Halloween! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/02/25 Full Review Garry A This was better than I expected. The final episode is 🔥 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/30/25 Full Review Dan B I love Marvel zombies and have read every comics to date. I was itching for an animated movie like the awesome animated DC movies. To say this is nothing like the source material is an understatement For a starters there's barely any marvel zombies in it. No zombie Hulk, Iron Man, Fantastic 4, Wolverine, Gladiator, Luke Cage, Giant Man nada. What we get is you typical world full of shuffling normal zombies which didn't happen in the comic at all as all the people where devoured by powerful super heroes before they could even turn. There were no humans left. There is also people becoming randomly giant which the show didn't explain at all. Once again we are given main characters no one really cares about. Wheres Magneto being the last super hero alive fighting zombie superheroes. Wheres Thor, Dr Strange, Wolverine, Colossus, Nick Fury etc making their final stand against the marvel zombie hordes before they all get turned. Wheres spider man fighting to get home to Mary Jane only to succumb to his bite and devour her. Oh but make way for Ms Marvel, Iron Heart, Kate Bishop, Red Guardian and his daughter, Shang-Chi, Melina Vostokoff. Most of these guy where not even in the comics at all as no one cared about what happened to them. Blade was pretty bad-ass though. The animation was good although I'd prefer traditional animation of the DC movies rather then the cell shaded CG stuff. I know why, because it's cheaper than to pay actual artist to draw. Anyone that's expecting an animated version of the comic, you will be disappointed. I tried to enjoy this but just kept comparing it to the comics. This should have been called, Marvel vs zombies and just said it had nothing to do with the comics. Lets hope DC continue there awesome animated movies and make a good Dceased movie Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/30/25 Full Review Chris H I don't know when the last time I said "what the F@ck" so many times in a row, especially during an animated series. The episodes get crazier and crazier. Even though Ms. Marvel is the main character, this version isn't annoying at all. I hope there is another season because this was WILD! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/25 Full Review Jason M. This was so much better than I was expecting! Unlike the episode of “What If…?” that lead into this series, Marvel Zombies focuses on telling a unique hoodie story within the Marvel universe instead of a bland MCU shirt with a zombie backdrop. I thought the cast worked well together, developing a strong team dynamic that the audience can connect with before watching in shock as they’re torn apart. The action was also great. The show featured just enough gore to make you squeamish without being full grossed out. This the best utilization of the “What If…?” art style so far. While I would usually complain about a Disney+ series being only four episodes long, I thought it worked well here. The pacing of the show was strong and you never felt like you were being rushed through events. I enjoyed Marvel Zombies a lot more than I was planning to, and I’d be excited for a season two to see how the series could improve. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/25 Full Review D H Marvel Zombies is a fun and energetic entry into Marvel’s animated lineup, offering a satisfying mix of superhero action and horror flair. The idea of familiar heroes turned into undead monsters gives the series an exciting novelty, and the brisk pacing keeps things engaging. The violence and dark humor work well for the mature rating, and there’s a pulpy thrill to seeing the chaos unfold. It’s visually striking in moments, and the short runtime makes it easy to binge in one sitting without dragging on. That said, it also feels quite limited — more like a flashy set piece than a complete story. The show introduces plenty of ideas but rarely develops them, leaving many characters and arcs feeling thin. It leans heavily on the shock value of its premise rather than exploring the emotional or thematic depth that could have made it memorable. Marvel Zombies is fun to watch and worth the time for fans of the concept, but once it ends, it leaves you wanting something more substantial to sink your teeth into.
