What to Know

Critics Consensus

Palm Royale's fabulous cast and visual splendor make for a diverting enough destination, but its wayward tone results in a curiously unfulfilling trip to paradise.

Cady Lang TIME Magazine Things aren’t quite what they seem in the stylish comedy... May 20, 2024 Full Review Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) The costumes are colourful and dynamic while the production design is luxurious. If nothing else, it’s wonderful to look at. Apr 1, 2024 Full Review Esther Zuckerman Bloomberg News Loosely based on Juliet McDaniel’s novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie, the show is a dishy delight; even when its plot meanders, it is sustained by wildly entertaining performances. Mar 21, 2024 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked With its warehouses’ worth of mid-century fashion and luxe production design, Palm Royale is visually arresting. That may be where your engagement ends. Aug 28, 2024 Full Review Archi Sengupta LeisureByte.com Boasting an impressive cast, this drama is a fun and twisted watch with some of the most insane characters that keep things moving. Although there are some unbelievable portions, its protagonist is so delightful that you forget the minor inconveniences. Rated: 3/5 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Susan Granger SSG Syndicate Created as a darkly comedic melodrama, Abe Sylvia's flimsy, farcical, frivolous frolic - starring Kristen Wiig -- starts out deceptively shallow but slowly builds in depth and intensity. Darlene F In the vein of White lotus. A great treat. Star guests Bruce Dern and Laura Dern. Absolutely crazy rich people who get into tightly knit and connected dramas. Keeps you guessing what new scandal will happen. I love seeing Carol Burnett as a wealthy socialite manipulating a group of members of an exclusive club. Ricki Martin is so funny as a confidante/ pool boy and bartender. Campy comedy. Love the clothing from the 60’s. Second season please. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review Kristal S I absolutely loved this show! The costumes and fashion are incredible! Whenever I was feeling down, I would watch this show as an instant pick me up! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/25 Full Review John C It has a fun premise but the awkwardness of the characters and story is absolutely painful. Think the office meets Housewives of ________. I am forced to watch this hot mess as a member of the family. It is absolutely painful and torturous. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/25 Full Review Paul L I only watched the first episode, but that was enough. Everyone is rightfully raving about the costumes, wigs, sets and scenic design, but once you stop looking AT the show, there wasn't much to see. The biggest problem was Kristin Wiig. Her Maxine wasn't a fully drawn character, but merely a series of sketch comedy tropes. Then there is the writing/(mis)direction. Early on, we're told (by Allison Janney's character, who would know) that the Dellacourte family line will end with the death of that family's matriarch. Then, without any explanation, it turns out that Wiig's character is married to a Dellacourt, and what little credibility the story had established (and that wasn;t much) flies out the window. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review Audience Member Its fun to watch. The cast is just good at what they do and everyone is fun to watch amidst a beautiful backdrop. I don’t understand how anyone can’t just love this show. Its visually stunning. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Lucas G Palm Royale is a beautiful escapade, its camp yet sophisticated look, impressive cast and sunny colour palette is the real treat and the story is a mildly interesting excuse to look at the screen. There are a couple things (like the awful cgi whale, and some cringey choreographies) that are so fake that really take you out of that maximalist daydream.
