Critics Consensus

Palm Royale's fabulous cast and visual splendor make for a diverting enough destination, but its wayward tone results in a curiously unfulfilling trip to paradise.

The costumes are colourful and dynamic while the production design is luxurious. If nothing else, it’s wonderful to look at. Go to Full Review

Loosely based on Juliet McDaniel’s novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie, the show is a dishy delight; even when its plot meanders, it is sustained by wildly entertaining performances. Go to Full Review

With its warehouses’ worth of mid-century fashion and luxe production design, Palm Royale is visually arresting. That may be where your engagement ends. Go to Full Review

Boasting an impressive cast, this drama is a fun and twisted watch with some of the most insane characters that keep things moving. Although there are some unbelievable portions, its protagonist is so delightful that you forget the minor inconveniences. Go to Full Review

Created as a darkly comedic melodrama, Abe Sylvia's flimsy, farcical, frivolous frolic - starring Kristen Wiig -- starts out deceptively shallow but slowly builds in depth and intensity. Go to Full Review

David E. @chickenlips Feb 22 Loved season 1….season 2 ruined it for me. Absolutely over the top, stupid, cartoonish plots and performances. I’m on episode 5 and I honestly cannot finish watching the rest. What a shame. A talented cast, gorgeous sets and costumes, and the worst writing I’ve seen in years. What a waste! See more Jennifer K. @Jennxs Feb 3 Funny, unusually clever and refreshingly unpredictable. The show keeps you guessing as to the true intentions and character of its players. The statement about women that this show makes also is much more complex and mature than a lot of the rather ham handed movies and TV we often see today. All in the context of Broadway-quality episodes. Ricky Martin is a surprise and a delight. Kristin Wiig, Alison Janney and Carol Burnett are always fabulous and Leslie Bibb is such a 180 from her character in White Lotus! I had no idea she could play a character so wry and sharp! I have a feeling that certain professionals who disliked this show must not have much of a sense of humor or sophistication. See more Chris C @CCDavi Jan 29 I loved both seasons of Palm Royale!! I loved everything about it from the concept to the cast, costumes and performances. I’m sorry it’s over. I came to love the characters and how all the zanyness came to a fun conclusion. Palm Royale is a delightful departure from the dark, ever-violent content being served on all video platforms. I’m truly going to miss it and it’s the only show I’ve recommended to friends who also need a break from the dreariness of life today. Kristin Wiig is an amazing talent and smart to surround herself with true thoroughbreds like Carol Burnett, Allison Janney, Laura Dern, Josh Lucas and Ricky Martin. Leslie Bibb was great as Dinah and Julia Duffy searching for her bootlegger! All of the characters were fun and authentic weaving into their parts familiar and beloved touches…especially Carol Burnett! I think I’ll start a Palm Royale club, like a book club, and watch it again with friends. See more Brittany T @Brittany528 Jan 26 I absolutely love this show! It’s fun, has some quirky moments and keeps you on the edge of your seat. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a show that I looked forward to! Bravo, Apple See more Koo K @Koocool Jan 18 An entertaining, light show with fun twists. Not to be taken too seriously. See more REN D. @MidwestREN Jan 18 Absolutely entertaining!! I thought I was taking a chance to start watching this but found it refreshingly entertaining and will watch the next season! So many twists and turns along with light hearted almost silliness. I found myself completely drawn to this show! See more Read all reviews
