Queen Cleopatra may posit some fresh speculation about the ubiquitous monarch, but its glossy presentation errs more towards a superficial toga party than a substantive endeavor. Read critic reviews

This is not a documentary, this is poorly executed and additionally the producer and director wanted so desperately to have a powerful queen who represent them, but this is so disrespectful for Egypt, also they want to impose their ideas on everyone which is also a sign of disrespect. Cleopatra has been inspiring for people around the World but their true admirers will not try to change her essence to match selfish expectations. I recommend to avoid it.

Can I put 0 stars instead? I watched this documentary for around 30 minutes and I couldn't bear it any longer. Instead of calling it a documentary, they should label it as 'imaginatory'."

Documentary based on headcanon and their grandmothers senile thoughts

Half a star is about three stars too many.

This is a fantasy of bad quality and should not be called a documentary. It is an insult to the great Egyptian culture and history in form of American ignorance.
      • Aug 31, 2023
As it is presented as a "documentary", it is then a bunch of blatant lies, inaccuracies and race oriented agendas, serious documentaries should portrait the historic real facts, not this blackwashing tendency to twist history.

I don't understand why shoot a historical series and distort history for the sake of fashion? Even if the creators of this shit are the gods of cinema, this will not excuse them, in their desire to falsify and distort the facts.

An uninspired docuseries, that might as well be classified as fiction. It is riddled with a shockingly high amount of historical inaccuracies. And even if we deign to ignore the terrible 'casting choices', it failed to capture the essence of Cleopatra. It depicts Cleo as a wannabe girl boss who can win against experienced troops in sword fights. Spoiler alert: She had no inclination towards the art of sword in real life. This series failed to portray the true strengths of Cleopatra, which were her charisma that she used in public speaking, which in turn made the kingdom's populace adore her. The director also tried to whitewash her personality by displaying her as some kind of victim of circumstance and a modern role model. Again spoiler alert: She poisoned her own brother, simply to prevent an imaginary coup from taking place and seduced Julius Caesar who was, well, married at the time significantly older than her. All in all, this is not worth watching in any capacity. The audience score sits at a respectable 3% right now. Frankly, I don't know how it even managed to cross 2%.

Cleopatra is the descendant of a general of Alexander the great. We are great deal with it.
