The strengths of the series are numerous, especially when it comes to the parts that feel like a gothic family drama. Go to Full Review

When you get into the third episode, and you realize that you've seen 10 minutes of eight different stories I didn't feel like I had time to get invested in anything. Go to Full Review

I’m sure many will binge the series, happy to ride out the contradictions, the unbalanced timelines, and the sometimes lazy acting, and delight in Kidman’s aura but Scarpetta fans will be a little disappointed. Go to Full Review

Between its dual timelines and oversaturation of subplots, Scarpetta often feels like it’s made of multiple scripts that have been stitched together. Go to Full Review

Sherry B @RT01923729 9h Wanted to like this, as I am a fan of the books, but really hate how Nicole Kidman portrays Dr Scarpetta. Why they took a brilliant, competent, professional woman and decided to turn her into a trashy, hot mess on the verge of an emotional breakdown I will never understand See more David D @David2026 1d Developed from the book series which started so well, its fresh approach to the genre delivering up some excellent reads, it went on to become a staging ground for the author's ever encroaching societal and gender views. Now its lost what made it special. This makes me sad. In adapting the show, some of those latter changes have been brought forward. Again, sadly. This should have been a runaway success and its not. Sadly. See more Lou M @Zipperella 4d It’s an easy watch, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Bobby Canavan absolutely carrying the show. I had expected Nicole Kidman to do most of the heavy lifting, but her character is quite bland, which would be related more to the character in the books than her acting. Simon what’s his face (Nic’s hubby) is a bit of a wet rag, I haven’t read the books so I’m not sure if he’s drawn that way and nailing it. Anyway, it’s a good watch, if only for Jamie Lee’s performance, she’s consistent and fantastic! See more Bonnie G @Luckylou8888 5d Jamie lee saved this show! Nicole looks like too many plastic surgeries. The ending really sucked but they needed to do it to save the show for season two Very discombobulated but the only reason I have two stars was Jamie lee and I’m not a big fan of hers. See more P M. @PFSM2 6d Worth the view !! Nicole Kidman ALWAYS delivers and the other cast members did a great job as well. Entertaining throughout all episodes and the ending got me excited for the next season !! See more DAVID C. @RT74918277 6d Dual timeline is extremely hard to follow. Unrelated and extraneous plots create a real drain n the real plot. Scarpetta’s mother character is beyond stupid. The space capsule elements are completely unrealistic and far fetched. I could not watch the last episode. Sorry I wasted my time watching the others I kept hoping the plots would come together. Not so. One star. See more Read all reviews
