Shadow and Bone's sophomore season packs in too much story sinew to properly breathe, but this adventure remains great fun for fantasy fans.

Nic Autostraddle Overall, season two has all of the tenets of a high fantasy adventure including a beautiful world to play in and themes of love, fate, and choice to explore. Mar 23, 2023 Full Review Sarah Shaffi AV Club This season is supersized: more characters, more settings, more plot, more danger, and more fighting. Rated: B Mar 17, 2023 Full Review Vicky Jessop London Evening Standard Fortunately, it’s silly enough that you can ignore most of it and just enjoy the ride. Rated: 3/5 Mar 16, 2023 Full Review Alex Valencia Q+ Magazine While the show remains entertaining and remarkably true to the spirit of all sets of characters old and new, narratively, this season can only be described as heavily overstuffed. Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Samantha Puc The Mary Sue Shadow and Bone season 2 has all the best things about fantasy: magical creatures, a super-scary villain, assassins, frenemies forced to work together, secret identities, and more. Unfortunately, the pacing leaves much to be desired. Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Gissane Sophia Marvelous Geeks Media Shadow and Bone Season 2 considerably improves through its visual effects, a brand-new brilliant score by Joseph Trapanese, and significant moments of vulnerability. William S The second season was extreemly boring, the character unlikeable and the changes to the story from the book ruin it. One of the worst season made from a book series ever.
