Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter Shogun had “prestige” written all over it. Yet the care taken by creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo to deliver this story without having it reek of appropriation and voyeurism was evident throughout. Jun 6, 2024 Full Review Ed Power Daily Telegraph (UK) Shōgun hasn’t been perfect. When it was slow, it was practically stationary. But the moving finale more than paid off all the time and patience demanded of its audience. Rated: 4/5 Apr 23, 2024 Full Review Phillip Maciak The New Republic One of the main features of this show—and the source of its most important narrative innovation—is how rigorously rule-bound its characters are. Apr 17, 2024 Full Review Tom Spoors Loud and Clear Reviews Shōgun is one of the best television shows to debut this decade, with visuals and performances that feel a cut above everything else out there. Rated: 5/5 Jan 7, 2025 Full Review Joonatan Itkonen Toisto.net In a time where streaming has made television series disposable, Shōgun feels timeless. Gunnar R While a great production and a very good effort, I can simply not bring myself to like this anywhere near as much as the old mini series that had a unbeatable cast and was actually filmed in Japan. In comparison this version feels bland and even though the production value is high the emotional impact is low for me. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/15/25 Full Review Tom F. A little anticlimactic I thought, but the dialogue had my full undivided attention. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/14/25 Full Review Saugat B. Baffled by the cinematography and the naturalistic world building! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/21/25 Full Review Doug T Outstanding in every way. (Posting this now because I only registered as a RT member today.) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/18/25 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful show, I have no words. An intelligent mind is required to watch this its not game of thrones. But it was an amazing experience and you can tell that they loved working on that show Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/04/25 Full Review A.R.W W I have no words this is was beautiful Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
