There's an entire wing of fiction built around such iconoclasts, but "The Other Bennet Sister" and its reimagining of Mary Bennet may be the most attuned to our times. Go to Full Review

Mostly the joy in “The Other Bennet Sister” comes from watching Mary slowly realize that she’s responsible for her own happiness, and that it’s right there waiting for her. Excuse me while I go watch this entire series again; it’s pure pleasure. Go to Full Review

It isn’t always an easy dynamic to watch, especially when things get tense. But in the end it’s a great reminder that the biggest hurdle most moms and daughters face is a simple lack of communication. Go to Full Review

Amid corsets, awkward silences, and social expectations as sharp as knives, *The Other Bennet Sister* rescues a forgotten character and makes her the protagonist of a story that feels surprisingly relatable. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

C F. @RT94141128 8h I absolutely loved this show. It brought a lot of joy. See more Sherri O. @SherriO 1d Excellent show! Super entertaining and fun but the ending was a bit of a disappointment. See more Lynn R. @SunnyBunny424 2d I have been waiting for a show like this and I didn’t even know it! Amazing protagonist who is real and unique and imperfect without that Manic Pixie Dreamgirl trope. Simple and sweet story allowing Mary to bloom and stretch her wings so she can discover herself apart from her horrid mother and “pretty and accomplished sisters”. Loved Hayward and Ryder and loved the Aunt and how she showed Mary the kindness and gentle guidance she had been missing her whole life. Lovely show and I wish the story wasn’t over. I’d love ten seasons of this! See more Richard A @RT12483032 2d Totally captivating. Everyone is excellent and you positively feel you have been been transported back to Regency England, where they get the props and furniture and those beautiful costumes from are top level accuracy. See more Joan T @Jonis 3d Netflix, HBO, Channel 4, Paramount and ITV can all produce good period drama, but the BBC when it is on form seems to be in a league of its own. This is yet another masterpiece, and I haven't yet seen the final episode. How does the BBC do it? See more Melody B @MelXLK 3d I do like the series and acting, but prefer the book much more. The Mary in the book is so intelligent, kind, independent and a great listener and observer. Though she was awkward, she was perceptive and always learning about herself and others. I generally like the aesthetic and actors of the TV series and its addition of more of the Bennet sisters and Mrs. Bennet, but in general, I found the adaptation lacking compared to the book, which is too bad.
