Wow this show is absolute garbage. It’s obvious most of these reviews are bots. I’m actually in awe that HBO could possibly make a mob show so bad 25 years after Sopranos came out. I honestly loved the Batman movie that preceded this and was absolutely expecting this show to be great. It was so impressively bad I had to create an account just to post this review.

A masterpiece really. I didn’t even like the new Batman movie, but this, this has me excited for the future of this Gotham. Oz was truly terrifying, a legitimate psycho whose only aim is to be on the top and it doesn’t matter who’s in his way. Sophia is a compelling equal and their rivalry in this series is absolutely captivating. I felt sympathy for any that stood in both of their ways. If this Batman universe continues to shine like this we’re in for some good entertainment.

The Penguin is exactly how you craft a villain's stand alone story, with a complex game of back and forth between questioning who you are rooting for, making for a masterfully written gangster crime story. A phenomenal spin-off miniseries that captures the same griminess and cinematography style from The Batman but is so engrossing on its own and the stakes feel so real that you forget its a part of that world. 9.5/10

Kudos to DC for taking such a bold move with their IP, but as the series wore on I became increasingly tired of Colin Ferrell’s Tony Soprano drag and the steady dirge of manufactured conflict and empty gestures imitating prestige TV.
