It's a riveting, compelling, and rather entertaining look at Oz's desperate attempts to become the kingpin of Gotham, dealing with a multitude of setbacks and surprises on the way that have him trying to out-maneuver his opponents at every turn.

Colin Farrell is unrecognizable in character, so all you see is the monster that is Oswald. They don't need to explain how he became a monster because they make it very clear that he was just always that way from the beginning. You're not meant to sympathize with him, but you want to cheer him on anyway in his attempt to wrest control of the underworld from the city's criminal bosses. Great performances from the entire supporting cast too. This stands entirely on its own within Matt Reeves Batman universe and sets up anticipation of future projects.

This is a great origin story of The Penguin. It delves into his twisted world and weird take on what it is to be rich. You have to watch this. Though it is gory. It has an excellent story. Only 1 season but there is a lot going on.
