Craig Zobel has a strong grasp of The Penguin’s tone, keeping it shadowy but not grim where the characters’ psychic wounds drive all their choices and the action.

"The Penguin” feels mechanical and recycled, constructed rather than imagined. Mob-movie clichés about honor and service are recited in lifeless dialogue and then recited again; the action often undercuts them but not in any witty or exciting way.

It's a riveting, compelling, and rather entertaining look at Oz's desperate attempts to become the kingpin of Gotham, dealing with a multitude of setbacks and surprises on the way that have him trying to out-maneuver his opponents at every turn.

10 out of 10 please watch this. I have to say I thought I’d be bored in the first 10 seconds because that’s how I am with tv but I was hooked in immediately amazing storyline. I love how it fell off the Batman movie from 2022. And the acting, girl i cried. Please watch it. You won’t be bored. I literally watched at least five times. Can’t wait for the next Batman movie hopefully they will continue the Penguin storyline with that cause I’m not sure that they are going to make more episodes 😔😔

Almost a perfect single-season show. Amazing beginning. A bit in the middle left me slightly disappointed, a little disjointed. But finished strong. Well worth the watch. I had not seen anything else from this “universe”.
