The show shifts away from chaotic action and leans heavily into dialogue, introspection, and character interaction, which slows the pacing and dulls the urgency that once defined the series. While there are still creative ideas and emotional beats, the execution often feels muted and underpowered. Several character arcs feel rushed or incomplete, and the narrative lacks the sharp focus of earlier seasons. The handling of Viktor’s transition is especially odd, not because of the change itself, but because the story refuses to acknowledge it in any meaningful way, making it feel narratively careless. Despite these flaws, the season still carries the emotional DNA of the franchise. As a conclusion, it underwhelms, but the series as a whole remains inventive, character-driven, and memorable, even if it doesn’t end on its strongest note. The finale kind of ruined lots of character development and arcs and had some strange scenes. I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons though. Allison was my favorite character and their whole family dynamic was interesting to see. I do think that they did a great job making a show based off of the original comics though. The music choices and soundtrack in the show is always phenomenal too. See more Katie D Nov 26 If you're starting to watch the umbrella academy I highly recommend to skip this season. This season was poorly written obviously the writers rushed this season unlike how the stranger things writers put all their efforts for the finale season of stranger things. This season doesn't connect to the previous 3 seasons, and don't get me started about the five and Lila's relationship thing and the writers said five and lika having chemistry since season 2 when they've been hating each other for the past seasons, and klaus was poorly written too I'm just glad he's sober but still poorly written they did him dirty. And the writers making Abigail hargeeeves as the one of important characters in season one yet they barely give her screentime and backstory, the keepers thing, and the two couple- jean and gene, and how did the marigold was found and became a liquid? The writers said this season would answer all the plot holes but this season added more plot holes.
