On one day in 1989, 43 infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who creates the Umbrella Academy and prepares his "children" to save the world. In their teenage years, though, the family fractures and the team disbands. Fast forward to the present time, when the six surviving members of the clan reunite upon the news of Hargreeves' passing. They work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father's death, but divergent personalities and abilities again pull the estranged family apart, and a global apocalypse is another imminent threat. The series is based on a collection of comics and graphic novels created and written by My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way.

If there’s a messiness to how this season unfolds, there’s a boldness too. And though I suspect there are some choices that will be divisive among the fanbase, it’s nice to see the show go out while it’s still able to make big swings.

The Umbrella Academy ending now could be considered yet more evidence of the ongoing contraction superhero content is currently experiencing. It’s ending strong, though, with enough commitment to its characters to make its most memorable moments shine.

Disappointing... Season 1 was "Who are these people I want to find out more" Season 2... I like these characters wonder what happens next. Season 3 was good with a good finally losing their powers was.... How will they live with out them/how will they get them back... Season 4... Oh none of it mattered why did I watch this?

I thought after waiting so long season 4 would be better. It sucks. Confusing, hard to follow, bad acting and quiet frankly terrible. The writer must have been on a bad acid trip.

This final season was such a disappointment. You could tell Netflix didn't care about it anymore and just wanted to finish it. The end half wasn't given enough thought or love. I feel so bad for the characters getting assassinated like that.
