An all-star cast head to a resort and unleash their worst, most privileged impulses. The series is a sharp social satire following the exploits of various guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain, whose stay becomes affected by their various dysfunctions. A week in the life of vacationers is unravelled as they relax and rejuvenate in paradise. With each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travelers, the hotel's cheerful employees, and the idyllic locale itself.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Swapping its tropical trappings for Euro chic while focusing primarily on the corrosive influence of carnal desire, The White Lotus remains a cookie full of arsenic that goes down smooth.

Estelle Tang BuzzFeed News Narratively speaking, this season felt flatter and had a little less texture, but it really sparkled. Season 2 was able to establish that the White Lotus formula works. Dec 22, 2022 Full Review David Mack BuzzFeed News I loved the scope of this season, compared to the last. Dec 22, 2022 Full Review Venessa Wong BuzzFeed News Season 2 leaves a less bitter taste in my mouth, which makes it slightly more forgettable to me. Dec 22, 2022 Full Review Isabella Liistro Loud and Clear Reviews While season 2 is still shown through White’s sneering lens, it’s clear he took more time developing the characters this time around, managing to find that balance between likeability and intrigue. Thierry G probably a brain dead community, this show is utter dog trash with nothing but plot holes and terrible acting Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/26/25 Full Review Audience Member Super good! The haters on here must just be radical left wokers who want more condescending preachsplaining like in the first season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/29/25 Full Review emily T. Best season yet! Watch it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/25/25 Full Review Caze T Season 2 of The White Lotus trades Hawaiian spirituality for Italian seduction, diving deep into a world of jealousy, manipulation, and sexual power games. While the season offers multiple storylines, the one that truly caught me was the tense psychological unraveling between Ethan, Harper, Cameron, and Daphne. At the center is Ethan—played with subtle inner torment by Will Sharpe—and his former college friend Cameron, played by Theo James in a performance that astonished me. James delivers a character who seems like just another rich, charming alpha male, but beneath that is someone dangerously perceptive and completely in control of every room he walks into. His portrayal goes far beyond the surface. He becomes a mirror, a threat, a trigger. Their relationship isn't just about sex or ego—it's about not being the victim of life. That line stuck with me. The tension between Ethan and Cameron becomes a slow-motion duel of masculinity and resentment, played not with fists but with subtle glances, private games, and sexual provocation. Watching Ethan unravel, not in a theatrical breakdown but in quiet shifts of behavior, was more powerful than any dramatic outburst could be. The season also explores sexual liberation in a way that’s both shocking and strangely liberating. There's a rejection of conservative morality—not for shock value, but as a desperate grab for control. In a world where emotion is currency and fidelity is fluid, every decision becomes a survival tactic. I also want to highlight the direction again. Mike White chooses not to moralize. He shows people spiraling in sun-soaked settings, giving space for each moment to linger. The hotel is beautiful, but it traps the characters in their worst instincts. As for the other storylines—Tanya's tragic opera arc and the Di Grasso family's generational guilt—they’re well-done but didn’t hold me the way Ethan and Cameron's slow-burn conflict did. Still, the season closes with emotional devastation wrapped in beauty. That’s White’s signature. This is a season not about resolution, but what you’re willing to become to feel powerful again. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/24/25 Full Review Nay N I don't know why this season has great reviews. This one is dull and boring and I'm not a fan of reading subtitles so much. Characters wasn't even likeable. I still don't understand why people love this show so much. I'm only watching these because people have suggested it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/22/25 Full Review Michael B Plaza is a black hole of energy. The idea that some "top critics" on this platform found this season compelling confirms that I must live on some other planet where storytelling exists. Season 1 was fun. Season 2 is unwatchable unless you need a cure for insomnia. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Read all reviews
