What to Know

Critics Consensus

Tires gets some chuckles by kicking around Shane Gillis' self-aware persona, but this unambitious sitcom will need to rev up the inspiration to get real traction.

Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) Anemic... Gillis financed the show, which means that it looks cheap and encapsulates his trademark “it’s just a joke” approach to bro comedy. May 30, 2024 Full Review Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter If you don’t find Gerben and Gillis’ juvenile, slightly retrograde brand of bro humor to be funny, that’s a recipe for tedium. If you do... that might be enough to pass a couple of hours May 24, 2024 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com I wouldn’t argue strongly with anyone who finds it irredeemably dumb, but I would also be lying if I didn’t admit to laughing at the fine line that Gillis and company walk here. May 24, 2024 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked I just wish Tires didn’t have to be so crass. Casually tossing an f-slur in the series premiere makes a strong statement, and not a welcoming one; consistently calling the Andiamo Brothers “wops” feels more antiquated than offensive. Aug 28, 2024 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba It’s not just hack work; it’s cowardly. It is gutless. May 30, 2024 Full Review Tim Stevens The Spool Tires is the rare show to make one comment both, “When does this episode end?” and “Wait…that’s it?” May 24, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member If you're looking for highbrow, sophisticated comedy, Tires is not the show for you and that's perfectly okay. Starring Shane Gillis, this series is unapologetically dumb, crass, and full of base humor. But here's the thing: it knows exactly what it is, and it doesn't try to be anything more. And honestly? That's refreshing. The humor in Tires is not for everyone, but if you enjoy over-the-top, ridiculous, and sometimes downright stupid jokes, you'll find yourself laughing out loud. It's the kind of show that doesn't take itself seriously, and neither should you. The cast, led by Gillis, clearly has a blast making it, and their energy is infectious. It's a reminder that comedy doesn't always have to be deep or meaningful—sometimes it's just about having fun. Sure, some people might criticize Tires for being lowbrow or juvenile, but not everything needs to be high-minded art. There's a place for stupid, silly humor in our world, and this show fills that niche perfectly. If you're in the mood to turn off your brain and laugh at something completely absurd, Tires delivers. It's a funny show made by funny people, and sometimes that's all you need. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/25 Full Review Angel M It’s alright, but it’s not the best thing I’ve seen especially in the work space comedy genre. I love Shane Gillis he’s a funny guy and a good comedian, but I feel that it gets tired after a while in show form whereas in stand up form it feels fresh. It suffers from trying too hard to be raunchy and “offensive” without any of the actual substance. I wouldn’t watch it again on my own, but if someone put it on while I’m there I wouldn’t complain. Tho other shows have done this style better (Brooklyn 99, parks and rec, the office, Abbott elementary) tho I do have hope for this show to shake it up. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review jason a People that are trying to take this show too seriously stop it, it's hilarious. You'll enjoy it. Shane, is funny? It's raunchy and great Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/25 Full Review Kevin P A raunchy comedy sh*tpost that’s actually pretty funny and well-paced with a solid underlying storyline. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/25 Full Review Audience Member Hopefully network executives don't destroy the hilarity of this show. Let the creators and writers run loose with their ideas. It's great and a really nice change from the mind-numbing boredom that comedy seems to have to fit these days. Attempting to make comedies that won't offend some people. It's nice to have comedies that just offend everyone because anyone and anything should be able to be made fun of. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Jay P I read the TOP CRITIC reviews and it just goes to show that critics are clueless about what audiences enjoy because the audience reviews are stellar... it's like the TOP CRITICS didn't even watch the same show or perhaps they are so stuck up their own egos to laugh at a comedy show from one of the top comics... so what if it didn't have a huge budget; the the laughs are effortless and plenty. I watched the whole season twice. Easy to binge, tons of jokes and also some feel-good moments in there that have you rooting for this rag-tag staff of the underdog tire shop. Can't wait for the next season coming in spring/summer 2025. Consider this... When Tires released on Netflix, it hit global top 10 and pulled in 3.7 million streams. Sounds like the critics and the viewers differ in opinions about what makes a good comedy show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews
