What to Know

Critics Consensus

Unraveling a brutal mystery with a sensitive touch, Under the Bridge occasionally glosses over its most interesting elements but excels as an exploration of cruelty.

Debra Yeo Toronto Star Even the most outrageous crimes can’t be seen as purely black and white, good and evil, given that they’re the product of human behaviour and that humans can be more than one thing at once. That intricacy makes “Under the Bridge” a compelling watch. Jun 17, 2025 Full Review J. Kelly Nestruck Globe and Mail This is a glossier, more conventionally true-crime approach to the subject matter and there are a couple blips in the script where it’s clear Americans are writing about Canadians -- but it’s worth resurfacing the conversations about troubled teens. Apr 18, 2025 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) Made with both harsh necessity and genuine insight, Under the Bridge is idiosyncratic, even untoward at times. But the care with which it treats all of the central characters, regardless of their actions, prevails. Rated: 4/5 Jun 20, 2024 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast It's incredibly watchable and Keogh, Gladstone and many of the teen actors are superb, but many of the creative decisions, including all of the fictitious characters created for the show and writing voice-over for a dead person, are questionable Aug 13, 2024 Full Review Paula Vázquez Prieto La Nación (Argentina) ... The keynotes belong to Gladstone, an actress of dramatic depth and astonishing singularity who elevates her character beyond the traditional police mold. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3/5 Aug 7, 2024 Full Review Kaiya Shunyata Dread Central Each thread is expertly woven together to portray the cracks within not only Canada’s justice system but also the land that this system sits upon. ann b it was an incredible painful story to watch unfold but the only part that stood out to me was the last episode. i was so confused by rebecca's actions in almost the entire show -- but the last 30 minutes of the last episode helped somewhat. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/12/25 Full Review Heidi O Terrible ending. Why not put the true sentance? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/25 Full Review Ann Cathrin G I watched it without knowing the real story, and therefore I think it was great. Captivating and touching in some ways, with a deeper message underneath the events happening. Issues in society, people who struggle and how tragic things can end up. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/08/25 Full Review Carrie B There are so many lies in this story that I cannot recommend it. There was no woman cop in the real life version and the woman writing the book was not a lesbian (or at least there is no evidence to support that claim). Just a series full of lies!! Unbelievable how dishonest these writers, producers, etc. are.... Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/31/24 Full Review Tom F An okay story, it would have been better if they cast younger actresses. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Dillon S Absolutely brilliant. Watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
