Camilla Long Times (UK) This was worth watching for Anna Maxwell Martin alone, as Delia Balmer, a bonkers, twirling hippy nurse not unlike Emma Thompson’s character in The Tall Guy. Nov 18, 2024 Full Review Carol Midgley Times (UK) If this story was fictional I’d be calling it far-fetched. Frighteningly, it is true... Rated: 4/5 Nov 9, 2024 Full Review Jasper Rees Daily Telegraph (UK) But at its most impactful, the script by Nick Stevens (who wrote last year’s The Pembrokeshire Murders) has enlightening things to say about the psychological legacy of male violence. Rated: 3/5 Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) Enraging and inspiring in equal measure. Depressing, too, knowing the Met did not learn from their worst mistakes. Nov 14, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Until I Kill You is both quirky and harrowing... The performance of Anna Maxwell Martin brings out all of those story nuances, and makes the limited series a fascinating watch. Nov 12, 2024 Full Review Barbara Ellen Observer (UK) Like a lot of true crime shows, Until I Kill You can be bumpy and repetitive, but it succeeds as an uncompromising female-centred take on a well-trodden genre. king k I have never witnessed such an extraordinary female performance that authentically captures the reality of a woman who is unconventional in her thinking, being, and perception of the world. Anna’s portrayal is breathtaking, offering a beautiful glimpse into the richness of neurodivergence—a perspective that is too often misunderstood or overlooked. The way the series explores how trauma and PTSD have shaped her, influencing her behaviour and interactions, is so raw and authentic. It’s heartbreaking to watch her being mistreated by the very police who are supposed to protect her, highlighting systemic failings. While the horrors of abuse inflicted by her partner are deeply troubling, this is a narrative we've seen on television many times before. What sets this performance apart is the series’ focus on her true self—her resilience, her struggles, and her unique perspective on the world. For those who have never experienced mistreatment by the system, the police, or others in power—and who have never known the hopelessness of feeling like there is no way out—this series might be difficult to fully grasp. But for those of us who have, Anna’s performance is transformative. For the first time, I felt truly seen and represented, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have witnessed such a groundbreaking portrayal. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Dave C The more you watch, the better AMM's performance is. She is cast so well in this role, and it comes as a bit of a surprise, as she has played more straightforward characters previously. Delia is more complex, with evident social and neurodivergent elements to her character. The story of her endurance of abuse, repeated incompetencies leaving her vulnerable, and how she comes out the other side is remarkable Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/22/24 Full Review Debbra W Incredible performances and as far fetched as it seems, the lack of being seen and heard is all too familiar! It is inspiring and terrifying Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Jacqueline H Anna Maxwell Martin played the part excellently as did the rest of the cast. I am going to read Delia's book now as I'm in awe of how she came out the other end. This is drawn out but I felt it needed to be as you had to feel the helplessness she felt. She was totally let down by the justice system and the judge who decided 9 years was adequate for 4 life sentences needs to be behind bars his or herself for the neglect they gave to Delia. Shame on them. Brilliant portrayal. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/08/24 Full Review Natalia jennifer H Must see! Great acting, shocking true story Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Andrei D Anna is incredibly good, the case sickening Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
