Andrew Mogel got his start with an impressively high-profile credit as the co-writer of a romantic comedy starring Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel before moving on to launch a television series and begin his directorial career. Mogel's first contribution to the cinematic world came in the form of the screenplay for "Yes Man" (2008), a comedy adapted from a non-fiction best seller written by British comedian Danny Wallace, about his decision to say "yes" to every opportunity that comes his way. Mogel co-wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller - best known for writing and directing "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (2008) and "Neighbors" (2014) - and actor/writer Jarrad Paul. Following "Yes Man," Mogel and Paul joined forces to write and produce the animated series "Allen Gregory" (Fox 2011), an animated series about a pretentious, hyper-intelligent grammar school student voiced by Jonah Hill. Although the program was canceled after only seven episodes, it further strengthened the collaborative relationship between Mogel and Paul, who opted to team up for their first directorial project. The film in question, "D-Train" (2015), premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. The comedy starred Jack Black and James Marsden as former high school classmates of disparate popularity and adulthood success, reconnecting years later when one vows to track the other down for the occasion of an upcoming school reunion. Mogel and Paul wrote and directed the picture together.
