Recognized for his countless roles on TV, Bill Morey began his acting career on a variety show and first began to work extensively on the stage. He was awarded the 1970 Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in "Janus" at the Pheasant Run Playhouse in Chicago. While at the theater he met director Michael Ritchie, who cast Morey in his first feature role, alongside Gene Hackman, in the gangster film "Prime Cut." After moving to Los Angeles in 1974, Morey landed a role on the popular crime series "Mannix," before appearing in the cult favorite "Death Race 2000" in 1975. After a variety of TV films, he guest starred on the sitcoms "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley." Starting in 1981, Morey began his recurring role as financial officer Leo Wakefield on the prime-time soap "Dallas." Indeed, TV work came relatively easy for Morey throughout the 1980s and '90s; he appeared in nearly every major show of the era, with parts on the sci-fi sitcom "Mork and Mindy," the teen melodrama "Beverly Hills, 90210," and the procedural series "L.A. Law" among his many credits.
