Bonnie Aarons
Actor Bonnie Aarons was born in Maryland on September 9, 1960. Best known for her iconic portrayal of the demonic horror villain, The Nun, Aarons began her film career in the 90s. She landed roles in various music videos, such as "Round Here" (1993) by The Counting Crows. She also had several small but memorable roles in films, including portraying the bum in "Mulholland Drive" (2001) and a baroness in "The Princess Diaries" (2001) and "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" (2004). Aarons used her striking facial features to a fantastic and frightful effect when she was cast as the demon Valak disguised as a nun in "The Conjuring 2" (2016). At a time when CGI and heavy prosthetics were commonplace in the horror genre, the nun's haunting visage was achieved through make-up alone. The character was so striking that it earned Aarons her own spin-off movies. "The Nun" (2018) quickly became the most successful film in the Conjuring Universe. Following, "The Nun II" was released in 2023.
