Veteran performer of the English stage, screen and radio, best known for portraying Cardew the Cad, an overgrown schoolboy character he created in the 1940s. This character became so popular that he was featured in a comic strip and resurfaced in the 1956 film "Fun at St. Fanny's." Robinson also worked on the London stage, most notably as King Pellinore in "Camelot" in the 1960s. During this period, he also pursued a career as a comedy writer, producing comic material for Peter Sellers and Dick Emery. Robinson also created the long-running radio show, "You've Got to Be Joking," and performed character roles in features including Roy Boulting's "Happy Is the Bride" (1958), "Where's Jack" (1969), Roman Polanski's "Pirates" (1986) and "Shirley Valentine" (1989).
