Dan Dailey
Dan Dailey was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. In 1937, he made his Broadway acting debut in "Babes in Arms." In his early acting career, Dailey appeared in such films as "Keeping Company" (1940) with Frank Morgan, the Ann Sothern comedy adaptation "Dulcy" (1940) and "The Mortal Storm" (1940). He also appeared in the musical comedy "Hullabaloo" (1940) with Frank Morgan, "Lady Be Good" (1941) and "Ziegfeld Girl" (1941) with James Stewart. His film career continued throughout the forties and the fifties in productions like "You're My Everything" (1949). In the latter part of his career, he tackled roles in "The Wings of Eagles" (1957), "The Wayward Bus" (1957) with Joan Collins and "Pepe" (1960). He also appeared in the dramatic adaptation "Adventures of a Young Man" (1962) with Richard Beymer and the dramatic biopic "The Private Files of J. Edgar Hoover" (1977) with Broderick Crawford. Dailey was most recently credited in "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (NBC, 1999-). Dailey won an Actor in a Television Series - Musical Or Comedy Golden Globe Award for "The Governor and J.J." in 1969. Dailey was nominated for an Actor Academy Award for "When My Baby Smiles at Me" in 1948. Dailey passed away in October 1978 at the age of 63.
