Actor Danny Goldman appeared in two of the top comedy films of the 1970s (albeit in small roles), as well as providing the voice for a popular character on the "Smurfs" television show. Goldman began his professional acting career in 1969, with a small role on the television series "That Girl." A year later, he received the role of Capt. Murrhardt on the hit film "M.A.S.H." (which would later become a hugely successful television series). An extended role on the short-lived television comedy "The Good Life" followed from 1971 through 1972, before Goldman scored a small but memorable role in the classic comedy film "Young Frankenstein" (as the medical student who asks Gene Wilder's character a question that agitates him so much that he jams a scalpel into his leg). Further roles in television ("Trapper John, M.D.") and film ("Where the Buffalo Roam") would follow, before Goldman began providing the voice for Brainy Smurf on the hit children's animated series "Smurfs," as well as countless other "Smurfs"-related specials. Although Goldman continues to act in the early 21st century (including reprising the role of Brainy Smurf on the show "Robot Chicken"), he works primarily nowadays as a casting director. Danny Goldman died on April 12, 2020 in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 80.
