Successful Hollywood screenwriter and director Dean Lorey is best known for his work on the cult sitcom "Arrested Development" and the Damon Wayans TV series "My Wife and Kids." A lifelong lover of movies, Lorey left his native Georgia for NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where he learned the art of screenwriting. After paying his dues writing commercial spots and book cover copy, Lorey headed to Los Angeles, where he helped script the 1993 dark romantic comedy "My Boyfriend's Back." He worked on two more popcorn features--the campy 1993 horror film "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday" and the 1995 boot-camp comedy, "Major Payne"--before turning his attention to television sitcoms. Lorey took on several fruitful projects in the 2000s: writing, producing, and directing the hit ABC sitcom "My Wife and Kids"; executive producing the Emmy Award-winning comedy "Arrested Development; and writing the first in a series of forthcoming children's books, "Nightmare Academy."
