Born in London in 1982 to Nigerian immigrants, filmmaker Destiny Ekaragha often found inspiration in the East London neighborhoods where she grew up. Having graduated from London Metropolitan University with a degree in Film and Broadcast Production, Ekaragha's first experience in the entertainment industry was as a runner on the set of the movie "Wimbledon" (2004). She wrote and directed her first short film, "Tight Jeans," in 2008, and premiered the eight-minute piece at the the BFI London Film Festival. She would do the same for her next short film, "The Park" (2009), and the next, "Bloody Muddle" (2011). In 2012, Ekaragha co-wrote and co-directed the short film "Rogue" (2012) with Katy Milner and co-wrote and directed her own short "Chance Meeting" (2013) before getting to work on her first feature film, "Gone Too Far!" (2013), which won the BAFTA LA Prize at the Pan-African Film Festival. The film also made Ekaragha the third British black woman in history to direct a wide-released feature film in the UK, and led to her selection as a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit. Ekaragha switched gears to television for her next two projects, directing the TV movies "Danny and the Human Zoo" (2015) and "Lolly Adefopfe's Christmas" (2015).
