Elvis Nolasco wanted to be a dancer. However his drama teacher saw something special in the young Nolasco and cast him in a high school production of "The Rainmaker" and he never looked back. Making his film debut in "I Like it Like That" (1994) before a stand out performance in Spike Lee's "Clockers" (1995), Nolasco was soon a regular guest star on TV appearing in "Law & Order" (NBC, 1990-2010), "NYPD Blue" (ABC, 1993-2005) and "Third Watch" (NBC, 1999-2005) before a recurring role in Lee's TV mini-series "Miracle's Boys" (The N, 2005). He also continued to act on stage most notably in off-Broadway production "Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz" (2007), and one man show "The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao" (2011), based on Junot Diaz's Pulitzer-winning novel. Nolasco worked with Spike Lee again on a pilot for "Da Brick" (2011) at HBO, a boxing drama written by John Ridley that wasn't picked up for a full series. However Nolasco went on to star in two more Lee movies in quick succession -- "Oldboy" (2013) and "Da Sweet Blood of Jesus" (2014) -- before landing a lead role in Ridley's critically acclaimed drama "American Crime" (ABC 2015-) as drug addict Carter Nix.
