Frank Thackery
Frank Thackery followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a successful and prolific cinematographer. His father Ellis "Bud" Thackery was a renowned director who shot scores of films and television programs from the 1940s until the end of the 1970s. He was behind the lens on programs like "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour," "The Virginian," and "Ironside." The son had his first cinematography job working as a team with his father, who was on his last job, on the medical drama "Emergency!" in 1977. The two would sometimes employ tricks like using a wheelchair from the set to get a mobile shot with a handheld camera. Like his father, Frank Thackery established himself in his field by shooting countless episodes of many different television productions. He was responsible for shooting episodes of the original "Battlestar Galatica" sci-fi series in 1978, 105 episodes of the legal program "Matlock" from 1986 to 1991, and 103 episodes of the medical mystery show "Diagnosis: Murder," among many others.
