French photographer and director Fred Cavayé comes to the world of film from fashion photography. He first started experimenting with motion pictures in 1999 with the short film "J," which was both a critical and commercial hit. He moved into features with 2008's "Pour Elle," which starred Diane Kruger. Cavayé had been working on the screenplay for two years before finding the funding to make the movie, and it established him as one of the hottest new directors in France. When a suburban wife is mysteriously convicted of murder, her husband must push himself to the limit to break her out. American director Paul Haggis remade the film in 2010 as "The Next Three Days," which raised Cavayé's profile in the States. His next film was the whip-smart "A bout portant," a thriller starring Gilles Lellouche as an ordinary guy who must rescue his kidnapped wife. The film proved that Cavayé was a master of action sequences, and it was a huge hit in his native country. There are already rumors that it may be in line for a Hollywood remake as well. His next project is the collaborative film "Les Infidèles," which sees him working alongside big-name French directors like Jean Dujardin and Michel Hazanavicius.
