Geoffrey Horne
A student of Lee Strasberg and member of the Actors' Studio since the mid 1950s, British actor Geoffrey Horne worked in numerous films, series, and plays for over 20 years before shifting his focus to teaching the craft. Born in Buenos Aires and raised in Cuba, he attended the University of California at Berkeley before studying with Strasberg and subsequently making appearances on dramatic anthology series such as "The Philco-Goodyear Television Playhouse." Within a couple of years, he landed two film roles, both in 1957 military dramas, as a soldier desperate to blow up "The Bridge on the River Kwai" and a cadet expelled on account of a sadistic Ben Gazarra in "The Strange One." He next played the love interest of Jean Seberg in Otto Preminger's "Bonjour Tristesse" and soon after played the lead in the Biblical tale "The Story of Joseph and His Brethren." Horne was narrowly passed over for the Warren Beatty part in Elia Kazan's "Splendor in the Grass" and moved mostly into guest spots on TV series through the '60s and early '70s, including the lead in the 1962 "Twilight Zone" episode "The Gift." He has performed in various Broadway plays over the years and has taught drama at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute since 1978. He made a late-career film appearance in the Adam Sandler comedy "Big Daddy" as the unsettlingly aged new lover of Sandler's ex-girlfriend. Horne married several times, twice to actresses Nancy Berg and Collin Wilcox, and has eight children.
