Gilbert M. Shilton's career began as a producer for "Magnum, P.I.," and he would make his directing debut in an episode during the show's 1982 season. Throughout the '80s, he would specialize in directing hour-long action or science fiction dramas, including "The A-Team," "V," a revival of "The Twilight Zone," and "Quantum Leap." The early '90s brought more directing work; however, aside from a few "Law & Order" episodes, the shows Shilton was involved with were short-lived ("The Flash," "Cop Rock"). From the mid-to-late-'90s onward, he continued to serve as a director for such fantasy and horror fare as "Xena: Warrior Princess," "Poltergeist: The Legacy," and "First Wave." Despite the growing number of syndicated, non-network shows on his resume, Shilton also directed several episodes of Fox's long-running evening soap "Beverly Hills, 90210." His list of credits also includes directing the movie "Devil Winds" and co-writing the action/adventure flick "A Family Lost," both of which made their debut on television.
