Gladys Hurlbut

Gladys Hurlbut found incredible success as an accomplished actress, appearing in a variety of films throughout her Hollywood career. Hurlbut worked on a variety of projects during her early entertainment career, including "Higher and Higher" (1943) starring Michèle Morgan, "Love on the Run" with Joan Crawford (1936) and "Private Secretary" (CBS, 1952-57). She also contributed to "The Mating Season" with Gene Tierney (1951). Her passion for acting continued to her roles in projects like the Ralph Meeker drama "Shadow in the Sky" (1952), "Something For the Birds" (1952) with Victor Mature and the crime feature "The Captive City" (1952) with John Forsythe. She also appeared in the Susan Hayward historical romance "The President's Lady" (1953). Nearing the end of her career, she tackled roles in the Doris Day musical comedy "Lucky Me" (1954), the Lucille Ball comedic adaptation "The Long, Long Trailer" (1954) and "A Man Called Peter" (1955). She also appeared in the dramatic adaptation "The Rains of Ranchipur" (1955) with Lana Turner. Hurlbut last acted on "The Donna Reed Show" (ABC, 1958-1966). Hurlbut passed away in January 1988 at the age of 90.
