Imagine the Lucy sitcom for 1.5 hours except with a terribly written script that contains few laughs. It is zany, ridiculous, and abundantly predictable. Desi's lack of acting skills are not well hidden. Apparently it was popular in its day, but it has not aged well.

Fans of I Love Lucy will no doubt love The Long, Long Trailer, which is essentially an extended episode of the sitcom. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez star as newlyweds who decide, based on the amount of work travel the husband is committed to, that it would be more cost effective and practical to live out of a trailer home. Trailer purchased, and it's a big one, they embark on an eventful road trip from California to Colorado. It has its share of slapstick laughs, as one would expect, and also its share of comedic fails, as one would also expect. Either way, the success of the movie is dependent on the undeniable chemistry between Ball and Arnez. Those who love their sitcom marital hijinks will embrace the movie. Others will probably consider it a nice but forgettable ninety minute diversion.
