Hannah Murray

Flaxen haired Hannah Murray first caught audiences' attention with a major television role that she nabbed on her very first audition. The then-16-year-old tried out for the British teen drama "Skins" (E4 2007-2013) because she felt it would be good practice for her future professional career. The process turned out to be more than just a dry run, however, when she was cast in the part of Cassie, which she would play for the next two seasons. The Bristol-born daughter of a university professor and a chemistry lab technician had first explored her love of acting by performing with the renowned Bristol Old Vic Youth Theatre Company. Her role on "Skins" would afford her many new opportunities, however, and she would use her early fame as a springboard for roles on the West End stage, as well as in feature films like "Womb" (2010) with Eva Green, and the thriller "The Numbers Station" (2013) with John Cusack. Murray dialed back her focus on her career to attend the University of Cambridge's Queens' College in 2008, where she would eventually earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Not long after graduating, she would join the cast of the smash hit series "Game of Thrones" (HBO 2011- ) as Gilly, a young woman under the protection of Samwell Tarly (John Bradley). She also co-starred as Cassie in the critically acclaimed comedy-drama "God Help the Girl" (2014), written and directed by Stuart Murdoch of the Scottish pop band Belle and Sebastian.
