Anthony Quinn Independent (UK) Rated: 1/5 Dec 31, 2010 Full Review Philip French Guardian Unfortunately the scenes set in the real world (the locations include Camden Lock and the London Zoo) are stilted and unconvincing, while those in the chatrooms become increasingly tedious. Dec 27, 2010 Full Review Sukhdev Sandhu Daily Telegraph (UK) Pantomimic dialogue, stagey sets and underwritten characters render this instantly obsolescent. Rated: 1/5 Dec 24, 2010 Full Review Kaleem Aftab The List Veers into thriller territory with predictable results. It's strange that a movie so lacking in substance arrives with such pedigree. Rated: 2/5 Nov 6, 2018 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media Shallow, violent movie could spark teen discussion. Rated: 2/5 May 20, 2014 Full Review Alistair Harkness Scotsman Nakata - here making his English language debut - fails to drum up much in the way of tension from the plot's hoky attempt to exploit fears about the existence of online suicide clubs. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/24 Full Review Audience Member This movie had crossed me many times, flipping through my cable TV channels, but as I am not into this kind of stuff (chatrooms) I always snubbed it. Now, as I finally watched it (it's a 2010 movie) it was, to my surprise and contrary to anything I imagined, an incredible insight into modern day people's behavior, from the lonely despair to the sordid destructible of one's own as well as the lives of others. It's a dark somber look into the mind of the depressed, the misunderstood, the trotten as well as the perversed (possibly as a result of the former) in our actual society, who nowadays often live more online than inside real live. Frequently we see it in the news on TV, of teenagers' suicide packs, social media bullying, etc. and this flick packs it all into an interesting and even artistic, finally even tense story from which everybody might take a different conclusion. It was a huge positive surprise with great performances by some of those, then, young actors. 6 1/2 out of 10 points. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Yo why is everybody bashing this? I'm 30 min into it and I love it! So creative and like wtf are these people talking about saying it's not interesting? It's extremely unique and I'm living for this arthouse! What you mean? Aaron Taylor Johnson and Daniel Kaluuya can act their way out of a paper bag and make it interesting! This is an interesting premise with great actors! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A truly awful film. 0 plot, absolutely nothing to make you feel attached to the characters, nothing that keeps you interested in the story. Unbelievably dull, a few of my friends even left before the end of the film due to how bad it was. The acting itself was fine, but the film itself was so boring you couldnâ(TM)t help but feel like you had wasted your time sitting through it.
