Born in Lambeth, London in 1978, Morahan made her acting debut in "The Peacock Spring" (1996) a TV movie directed by her father, before going onto study English Literature at Cambridge. Following her graduation, Morahan spent several years treading the boards but returned to television in the mid-'00s with recurring roles as paediatrician Beth in medical mystery "Bodies" (BBC3, 2004-06) and irritating family friend Jane in sitcom "Outnumbered" (BBC1, 2007-2014). After making a brief appearance in children's fantasy "The Golden Compass" (2007), Morahan received glowing reviews for her portrayal of lovelorn Elinor Dashwood in Andrew Davies' take on "Sense and Sensibility" (BBC1, 2008), played tragic real-life socialite Gale Benson in "The Bank Job" (2008), and guested on "Trial and Retribution" (ITV1, 1997-2009), "Agatha Christie's Marple" (ITV, 2008) and "Lark Rise to Candleford" (BBC1, 2008-2011). Morahan then appeared in Martin Amis adaptation "Money" (BBC2, 2010), legal fantasy "Eternal Law" (ITV, 2012) and codebreaker drama "The Bletchley Circle" (ITV, 2012-14), and added to her filmography with performances as bohemian artist Laura Knight in "Summer in February" (2013) and troubled young woman Ann Kelmot in "Mr Holmes" (2015). Roles as Arthur Conan Doyle's second wife in "Arthur and George" (ITV, 2015) and doomed mother Elizabeth in "The Outcast" (BBC1, 2015) then followed before Morahan landed the parts of Tory politician Siobhan in election comedy "Ballot Monkeys" (Channel 4, 2015) and enchantress Agathe in Disney live-action "Beauty and the Beast" (2017).
