British actor Iain McKee is a perfect example of a performer who was worked his way up from minor supporting parts in TV series to significant film roles alongside major Hollywood stars and directors. Most widely recognized for his role as World War I veteran Frank Gadney on the well-received BBC period drama "Lilies," he got his start on a two-episode run of the police procedural "Stanton Blues" during its third season. It would be two years before McKee expanded his resume beyond roles such as "Second Policeman," "Private," and "Guy"; in 2003, he played Paul on "Burn It," the edgy drama series following a group of men who can't seem to grow out of their drug-abusing, promiscuous days of youth. After several more background roles, he was cast in "Lilies," a production he felt extremely grateful to be a part of. That same year, in 2007, McKee appeared as Michael on the outrageous BBC comedy series "The Visit," set entirely in a prison visiting room. He found an opportunity to work with revered director Richard Linklater in 2008's "Me and Orson Welles," starring Zac Efron and Claire Danes. Three years and a handful of small performances later, McKee was cast as Spengler in Paul W.S. Anderson's special effects extravaganza "The Three Musketeers," and while the film wasn't exactly loved by critics, it was a Hollywood hit seen by audiences around the world.
