      Birthday: Mar 26, 1934

      Birthplace: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Canadian actor Joby Baker broke into television in 1952 with a one-off role on "The Red Skelton Hour," a comedy variety show that starred the beloved clown. By 1959, he had made his way into film with a supporting role in the summer love comedy "Gidget," which starred American sweetheart Sandra Dee. He went on to appear in two more "Gidget" pictures, including the musical comedy sequel "Gidget Goes Hawaiian" and the American abroad rom-com "Gidget Goes to Rome." These years proved fruitful for Baker; he appeared in a long list of popular TV programs, including the terror-inducing anthology series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and the family-man sitcom "The Dick Van Dyke Show." In 1965 he landed a small role in the Elvis Presley musical romantic comedy "Girl Happy." It was here that he met his first wife, actress Joan Blackman. The pair were married only two years; they parted ways around the time he'd landed the lead in the radio station-set sitcom "Good Morning, World." Sadly, like his marriage, this was not meant to last. The show was cancelled after only one season. After this Baker went back to one-offs and the occasional recurring role on television, on which he was a familiar face until his retirement in early 1984, the same year he married singer/songwriter Dory Previn.
