John McCurry was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. McCurry's earliest roles were in film, including the dramatic adaptation "The Last Mile" (1959) with Mickey Rooney, the dramatic adaptation "The Pawnbroker" (1965) with Rod Steiger and the Beau Bridges dramedy "The Landlord" (1970). He also appeared in "The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings" (1976) and the horror feature "Jaws of Satan" (1979) with Fritz Weaver. McCurry also contributed his voice to characters in the animated comedy "Fritz the Cat" (1972) with Skip Hinnant. He continued to work steadily in film throughout the eighties, appearing in "Wolfen" (1981), the Farley Granger drama "Deathmask" (1983) and the Dan Aykroyd comedy "Trading Places" (1983). He also appeared in "Alphabet City" (1984). McCurry's music was also featured in the Diedrich Bader comedy adaptation "Meet the Spartans" (2008), the comedic adventure "Disaster Movie" (2008) with Matt Lanter and "Sex Drive" (2008) with Josh Zuckerman. McCurry's music was most recently used in "Ramona and Beezus" (2010).
