Jon Gabrus
A talent for outrageous comedy, shot through with a seemingly limitless understanding of pop culture, made Jon Gabrus an in-demand talent on television and in features and the podcasting world. Born Jonathan Gabrus on January 31, 1982 in Long Island, New York, his initial career choice was either a Navy Seal or FBI agent, but exposure to comics like Adam Sandler on "Saturday Night Live" (NBC, 1975- ) pushed him towards comedy and in particular, improvisation. In his early 20s, Gabrus began making the rounds in New York City's comedy club scene, and soon joined the ranks of such esteemed improv troupes as the Upright Citizens Brigade. In 2012, he headed to Los Angeles, where he divided his time between live performances, appearances on comedy-related shows for MTV like "The Substitute" (2011-2012) "Wild 'N Out" (2005- ) and "The Guy Code" (MTV2, 2011-) and acting roles on episodic television series like "Happy Endings" (ABC, 2011-2013). Gabrus soon worked his way up to recurring turns on "Younger" (TV Land, 2015- ) as the hapless slacker Gabe, while also nurturing a side career as a popular podcast guest and host. He created the role of Gino Lombardo, a Long Island-born intern and ardent shock jock radio fan with a loose grasp of podcasting for "Comedy Bang! Bang!" (Earwolf Media, 2009- ) before launching his own pop culture-themed podcast, "High and Mighty" in 2015. The show, and Gabrus's ability to discuss nearly any subject, from religion to the most obscure entertainment reference, earned a devoted following while he also pursued more substantive acting roles in features and on television. In 2017, he joined a cast of comedy talent including Aubrey Plaza, Kate Micucci, Fred Armisen and Nick Offerman in Jeff Baena's "The Little Hours," a comedy based in part on Boccaccio's "The Decameron."
