Joshua Sasse
He may have trained in theatre and kicked off his career in film, but Joshua Sasse ultimately found his way to the fruitful terrain of television. In his first few years of professional acting, the England-born performer established himself as a presence in a handful of TV programs, laying groundwork in the genres of comedy, drama, crime, fantasy, and even musical, as on his breakthrough work as the lead in the fairy tale series "Galavant" (ABC 2015-16). Joshua Sasse was born on December 9, 1987 in the London suburb of Westminster in the United Kingdom, where he was raised by parents Dominic Sasse and Mary Rosalind Macauley alongside older sister Lydia. Sasse began his path to occupational acting and singing at Hurtwood House College, where he studied performing arts, continuing his pursuits at the drama school Cygnet Training Theatre. One of his very first roles was in a West End theatre production of "Mamma Mia!" in 2010. That same year, Sasse made his film debut in the straight-to-DVD gangster movie "The Big I Am" (2010), in which he played a minor character supporting well-known stars like Michael Madsen and Leo Gregory. His follow-up feature, the found-footage film "Frankenstein's Army" (2013), would transplant Sasse to the horror genre (and allow him his first taste of cinematic heroism). But Sasse's most substantial career jump in 2013 came from the realm of television, where he'd find a recurring role as Alec Lazslo on the crime-drama series "Rogue" (Audience Network 2013- ). Working alongside the likes of Thandie Newton, Cole Hauser, and Rupert Evans, the DirecTV program helped launch the little-known Sasse to a newfound notability, quickly earning him further small screen roles. After a recurring gig on the second season of the screwball sitcom "The Neighbors" (ABC 2012-14), Sasse landed his first headlining role. The young actor channeled his comic chops and musical aptitude alike for the song-laden fairy tale comedy series "Galavant" (ABC 2015-16), playing the titular charming, albeit vengeance-obsessed knight (and leader of a motley crew of de facto revolutionaries). The fantasy series was created by "The Neighbors" show runner Dan Fogelman, and debuted to largely positive reviews. After "Galavant" was canceled following its second season, Sasse went on to star in romantic drama "No Tomorrow" (CW 2016- ), opposite Tori Anderson.
